This building was designed for an international architectural competition promoted by the Government of Gabon. It is placed in the center of a wider urban strategic redesign of the Cité de la Democratie de Libreville. We decided to shape the bulding as a new line of the horizon. The horizontal form is simple and majestic at the same time. Placed on the ridge of the hill and anchor on the soil through a light cutting on the ground, the building is overlapping the horizon line. The natural profile of the hill designs the spaces at different levels. Because of this orographic movement we designed a very linear shape so that the hill itself will shape the final form of the building, within a respectful idea of the landscape and playing with the inner natural beauty of the site.
